Trash to treasure: Miss Penny got her wings

For those of you who may not know the story, this is Miss Penny.  She came into our lives one day when we were doing an adoption event at the Petco Copperfield location in Houston, TX.  Someone had left her tied to a garbage bin in the back of the store in the rain.  This purebred senior Labrador found herself literally thrown out in the trash. The folks at Petco were genuinely horrified at such cruelty and reached out to some of the folks who volunteered at the adoption events.

Sunshine finds her family

Here is Sunshine and her new family.  They came back to Petco on Saturday to pick up her heartworm preventative, said she was doing great, and they all loved her.  In fact , they took her to the son's baseball game and she was perfect!!  I am so happy for her!!

Sunshine, here's hoping that you enjoy a long and happy life with your family.  These are the types of new beginnings that we hope happen for all of the animals and humans that we are privileged to meet.
