Or you can just play with the kitties & doggies!

A little visitor

We always love it when former "adoptees" come to visit with their families, yesterday at Copperfield adoptions was no exception.

Little Camo came to visit with "his boy" and family.  A visit from this fellow is an especially sweet treat when you know his fight against the odds.  Camo came into the shelter with a bad leg injury that was initially treated, he went to foster care, and the injury became worse due to infection. In the end, the leg had to be amputated to save his life.  These folks saw past what a lot of other folks saw as a barrier to adoption and it ended up being a lovely fit for all concerned.

No adoption is ever perfect, no animal is ever perfect, but there are a lot of animals out there who would gladly welcome love and caring from some unconditional imperfect people like Camo got.

A verrry laidback kitty needs a home..

Cuddle-bug looking for a loving home.

A medium-haired tabby cat, his fluffiness can make him look a little bigger then his trim 9 lbs, but he's the purrfect size for a lap. According to the vet, he's about one year old, a sweet boy who is highly affectionate, not a stereotypical stand-offish type of cat, and will lean right into your arms when you cuddle, followed up with a round of purring.

Updated 8/12/13: Cherubic Charlie: Special home needed

Update 8/12/13:  Happy to share that Charlie has been adopted!
----------------------------------------

We'd like to introduce you to an angel of a furkid, Charlie, he's a very special boy who is in need of a wonderful loving home.

This sweet boy is great with kids, he is currently around autistic children, and he is good with other dogs. We are searching for a family for him, he currently lives at a specialty barn with other therapy animals.  He helps with the children who attend the ranch for therapy and need some unconditional love, but really needs to find a loving forever home where he can have his own family to spoil him.  Every furkid deserves an opportunity to have "their own people".

He spends his days around chickens, cows, and horses, but much prefers the company of humans, and we would like to help fulfill that need for him.

Trash to treasure: Miss Penny got her wings

For those of you who may not know the story, this is Miss Penny.  She came into our lives one day when we were doing an adoption event at the Petco Copperfield location in Houston, TX.  Someone had left her tied to a garbage bin in the back of the store in the rain.  This purebred senior Labrador found herself literally thrown out in the trash. The folks at Petco were genuinely horrified at such cruelty and reached out to some of the folks who volunteered at the adoption events.

Sunshine finds her family

Here is Sunshine and her new family.  They came back to Petco on Saturday to pick up her heartworm preventative, said she was doing great, and they all loved her.  In fact , they took her to the son's baseball game and she was perfect!!  I am so happy for her!!

Sunshine, here's hoping that you enjoy a long and happy life with your family.  These are the types of new beginnings that we hope happen for all of the animals and humans that we are privileged to meet.

From a shelter to friendship

Lots of folks ask why do you do what you do?  They say they could not do it, too heartbreaking.

We beg to differ, we find absolutely nothing heartbreaking about helping dogs here like Rosco, now known as Petee, find a good friend to live his life with.

Petee, no longer a shelter dog. Perspective.

Woody the lap-dog needs a home

Meet three year old, 37 lb. Woody, he’s liver and white with fabulous blue and brown eyes.  The left eye is half brown and half blue, that’s not a glare from the camera.  He’s  a great looking boy, who loves everyone, likes to cuddle, and is one happy tail wagging fellow.  Woody is located in the Houston, TX area, single, and looking for a responsible, loving, and committed home.
